Linda Smith, 67
Linda Judy Smith, 67, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., due to heart failure. She was born Feb. 10, 1947 in Baker, Mont., to Ervin Heuer and Esther Carol (Wenz) Heuer. She is survived by her husband, Tom Smith; brother, Denny Heuer; sister, Bonnie Brown-Avis; daughter, Launa (Redmond) Fields; granddaughter, Lelah Fields; and great-grandchildren, Loralei Fields and London Reynolds. She was preceded in death by son, Neal Redmond.
Though Linda was born and raised in Montana she spent much of her time in Northern Idaho. She moved there at the age of 14 with her newlywed husband John Neal Redmond Jr. with whom was born both of her children, Launa and Neal Redmond. In her younger adult years she traveled all over America with her family in the carnival business. Whilst back home in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane area, she worked many jobs as a server to provide for her children whom she loved with her whole heart.
In 1983 she was happily married to the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Mr. Tom Smith. They celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on Aug. 13, 2014. Linda and Tom moved to Tacoma, Wash., on June 26, 1990. Since this time Linda has made a name for herself serving at Merilands Restaurant, as well as Pegasus where she worked for the last 15 years. She was also a business associate for Univera for the last seven years as well.
Anyone that knew Linda, whether brief or long term, would agree that she had a beautiful spirit. She had the most amazing smile and a laugh that could fill any room. She was full of joy, inspiration and love. She loved her doggies, friends, family and husband beyond measure. She also treasured and was well-known for her remarkable cooking ability, often cooking through the night for family gatherings such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. In her leisure time she loved to read and had mountains of books. She was such a social butterfly, making friends everywhere she went. She loved get-togethers with girlfriends and her chocolate coffee.
Linda made her mark on this world and it will never be the same without her. She had beauty and a light about her that no one could touch. Her friends and loved ones are so very blessed to have her in their lives.
A special "thank you" to the staff at St. Joseph Medical center for their vigilant care. So much appreciation also goes out to all the family and friends that have come together during this time in show of support and love.
