• Kootenai County Sheriff's Office vehicles collide
COEUR d'ALENE - Two Kootenai County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles collided Tuesday evening at the intersection of Highway 95 and Bosanko Avenue.
According to Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Lt. Stu Miller, two deputies were responding to a report of a theft in progress with the lights and sirens activated on their vehicles.
When they approached the congested intersection, Miller said one of the vehicles rear-ended the other. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the collision is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
Miller added that the theft call which prompted the deputies' response was handled and that reports from the victim of the theft that shots were fired during the incident were not confirmed by investigators.
• AARP Tax-Aide volunteers sought
COEUR d'ALENE - Computer-literate volunteers are needed to help low- to moderate-income residents from Shoshone and Kootenai counties file their income taxes.
The AARP Tax-Aide Program helped more than 6,000 people e-file their state and federal income taxes earlier this year, and more volunteers are needed to help early next year, according to volunteer Ed Eichwald.
"This coming tax season, more computer-literate people are needed to keep up with the demand for this great service," Eichwald said.
A training program for new volunteers will be held in January. For more information contact Warren Fisher at 765-6589, or by email [email protected].
