RECALL: Now, pay the price

Shameful. Just absolutely shameful. That is how I feel as a citizen of the Mica-Kidd Island Fire District to see that this ridiculous recall effort succeeded. That so many of you bought into the recall efforts led by Jim King, Nancy King and Gretchen Hauser. They manipulated so many of you into believing that a good, honest and hardworking man like Chris Shelton did something wrong because they don’t want a well-equipped and trained volunteer fire department. Mr. King has even said in an open public meeting that if his house was on fire to “let my house burn and I’ll get my family out.”

What did these people do to convince you to vote for the recall? All their statements about so-called illegal meetings were proven false by the county prosecutor. Are they using their position as Grange Hall leaders over you to bid to their will? Are they threatening you with revoking your membership? Removing you from a position such as they did to Vera Weniger?

I’m just speechless that this community couldn’t see past the deceit and allowed them to be bullied into the start of the destruction of the hardest working volunteer fire department in THIS county. Congratulations and I really hope you all can afford the 330 percent increase in fire tax when KCFR or Coeur d’Alene Fire takes over. Something you didn’t even consider, huh? Way to go.
