TRASH: We can do better, Cd'A

| November 7, 2014 8:00 PM

Dear Citizens of Coeur d’Alene,

As I was picking up trash at the Higgens Point location (good deed project I was working on), I was amazed to see that 95 percent of what I collected were cigarette butts (almost 2.5 pounds of it!).

I don’t understand how and why people don’t consider throwing cigarette pieces on the ground as littering. It IS TRASH.

As citizens of this great city, please remember that trash is trash, no matter how large (plastic bottles, candy wrappers, etc.) or how small (cigarette butts, soda bottle caps etc.). If you ever are at Higgens Point and while you are walking the path or parking your boat trailer, look down and you will see a sea of litter in the form of cigarette butts. This has to stop.
