FLU: Face of KH will walk away

Regarding the article in the Coeur d’Alene Press on Kootenai Health requiring the flu shot, my spouse who’s been an emergency room nurse employee for Kootenai Health also faces losing her job for her decision not to be inoculated with the flu vaccine. Cathy Greene is the face you see on the billboards, fliers and newspaper advertisements in which Kootenai Health promotes its Dream Team… She believes Kootenai Health is taking an overstepping approach in the matters of personal choice to achieve little to nothing and she personally refuses to submit herself to invasive procedures for such an unsubstantiated cause. I applaud her for sticking to her principles.

Oh, and by the way, Cathy, having never had the flu vaccine has never had the flu in the 24 years she’s been working at KMC/Kootenai Health but I do know of numerous instances over the years where her flu vaccinated colleagues have.

You should have asked Kim Anderson since implementation of their flu prevention program two years ago of having all employees get vaccinated for the flu or wear a mask, what’s been the employee absentee rate due to the flu during that time period versus previous years. They should be able to graph say the last 10 years which would show the efficacy of their policy. Now that would be real data to prove one’s case… one way or the other.
