NIC WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cardinals drop playoff opener to Shoreline
SHORELINE, Wash. - Sheleiyah Wilson scored on an errant pass, leading to an unassisted goal in the 47th minute, as the Shoreline Dolphins past the North Idaho College Cardinals 1-0 in the opening round of the Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer playoffs on Wednesday.
NIC - which rejoined the NWAC earlier this year after leaving the conference in 2004 - finishes 9-3-9.
"It's a difficult way to end a very good season," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "I'm sad for the sophomores who have put in so much time and effort into making this a good season. It was hard for them to lose by a goal."
Wilson's goal came on an errant pass from 35 yards out, beating two NIC defenders and hitting a shot from inside the left post.
NIC had two attempts to tie the game late, but had shots saved.
Shoreline (12-6-3) advances to the quarterfinals to face Lane College (14-2-2) on Saturday in Eugene, Ore.
First half - none. Second half - 1, Shore, Sheleiyah Wilson (unassisted), 47:00.
