• Ketchum to pay some legal fees following lawsuit

KETCHUM - City leaders in Ketchum have agreed to pay up to $40,000 in legal fees for an organization that is being sued after a man fell off a roof and injured an off-duty Idaho sheriff's detective.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports that Ketchum officials say a clerical error involving the 2012 Music & Arts Showcase Sun Valley led to the city's insurer refusing to cover the event's legal fees.

Ketchum co-sponsored the festival and agreed to provide insurance.

At the event, a man fell on former Blaine County Sheriff's Detective Corey Weatherly, breaking Weatherly's neck.

Weatherly filed a lawsuit and is seeking damages in excess of $10,000.

Ketchum's insurance provider at the time, HUB International Ltd., says it agreed to insure the city, not the festival.

• SE Idaho bond to replace 1885 courthouse fails

PARIS - Voters in southeast Idaho have rejected a $3 million bond to replace a courthouse built in 1885.

The Idaho State Journal reports that the bond to build a new courthouse in Bear Lake County received about 58 percent of the vote Tuesday, short of the super-majority of 66 percent needed.

Bear Lake County Clerk Kerry Haddock says the current courthouse in the town of Paris is the oldest active courthouse in the state.

The original courthouse has had additions and remodels over the years.

Haddock says a committee formed about five years ago to look at alternatives to address serious problems with the courthouse's electrical system and make the building compliant with the American With Disabilities Act.
