Larry Lloyd Stevens, 70
Larry Lloyd Stevens went peacefully and eagerly to be with his Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2014.
Larry was born to Lloyd and Mary Kathryn Stevens in Eugene, Ore., on December 29, 1943. He began working at 16 years old. Larry's first job was as a dishwasher for his aunt's restaurant. Later, he became a cook at Denny’s.
Larry joined the Air Force in 1964 and served for eight years, until 1973. After completing his service of duty, Larry moved back to Idaho where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service from March 1977 through August 2005, at which time he retired. During his tenure with the Forest Service, Larry worked primarily as a road designer, but also worked with Search & Rescue, and on the Wild Fire team.
Larry's hobbies included ham radios, collecting rocks, fishing, hunting, bowling and reading.
Larry worshiped at his local church, North Country Chapel, where he served in various volunteer positions - the nursery being one of his favorites. He was a blessing, and was blessed by the fellow believers there.
Larry will be remembered for his generosity toward others, his serving spirit, his delightful, dry humor, and being the first to volunteer for any job.
Larry is survived by his wife, Beverly; and her daughters, Breanna and Brittney, and extended family; his daughter, Rachel, and her children: James, Timothy, Elisabeth, and Abigail, and extended family; siblings: Judy, Harry, Fred, and Mary Kay; step-brother, Gary, and their families; and by the many whom he loved and served throughout his life.
In addition, Larry and his family have much appreciated the guidance, encouragement and blessing they received from the different health care professionals who had such an impact in the later years of Larry’s life.
Larry’s heritage of faith will remain in our hearts always. He will be greatly missed!
There will be a memorial service for Larry Lloyd Stevens at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. An open casket viewing will be offered from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., prior to the service. Please join us for a light reception following the service.
