Coleman F. Wyatt, 85

| May 19, 2014 11:38 AM

Cole Wyatt passed on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Kootenai Health Center. His passing was relatively quick and peaceful, with many of his loving family members by his side.

Cole was born April 5, 1929, in Oroville, Calif., to Frank and Rebecca Wyatt. He was raised on a farm, attended school, and graduated in Oroville. Upon graduation, Cole enlisted in the Navy, was stationed in Hawaii and took part in the cleanup after the Pearl Harbor attack. Shortly after his honorable discharge from the Navy, Cole met and married Betty Jane McKuin in Arizona.

Cole learned many different trades throughout his life. He worked on the railroad after his Navy career ended, and then tried his hand at extermination which required a college degree. Cole and Betty were owner/operators of their own Mexican food restaurant. Cole also worked at Bunker Hill, tried his hand at flipping houses and excavation with his own heavy equipment, then went to work at a saw mill maintaining and operating the boiler room.

Cole lived in North Idaho since 1965 - residing in Harrison, Plummer, Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. His favorite pastimes included bowling, gardening, reading western novels, watching the Mariners and Seahawks, and cooking, but mostly, helping his friends and loved ones.

Cole was an avid bowler - bowling on several leagues a year. He competed in many tournaments over the years, and loved the game. He was a true Louis L’ Amour fan, and probably read every novel several times. Cole's BBQ’s were incredible; he had a gift for serving up the perfect steak!

Cole was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, who passed in July of 1994 after 37 years of marriage; one brother and two older sisters.

Cole is survived by his loving wife, Laura, of 19 years; treasured daughter, Becky; granddaughters, Mandy and Cayla; great grandson, Kasen Wyatt Swanson, and great granddaughter, Skylee Cole Bowers; seven step-children, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A military service will be held in early June at the Medical Lake Veterans Cemetery, date and time to be announced on Cole’s online memorial, located at www.belltowerfuneralhome.com. Please visit the website to view photos and offer your condolences.
