Kootenai County FULCHER: Debate clarifies choice

The gubernatorial debate broadcast on Idaho Public Television elicited gales of laughter from my husband and myself. Saturday Night Live could not have staged a more hilarious skit. However, when the candidates were asked to give their closing statements, it became clear that Mr. Brown and Mr. Bayes were merely foils for Governor Otter.

Apparently, the governor insisted that the two self-ascribed “un-normal” candidates be included to prevent a substantive debate between himself and Senator Fulcher, as well as to distract viewers from the governor’s own shortcomings.

However, Otter merely diminished himself while making a mockery of the debate. This tactic, along with the governor’s mediocre debate performance consisting of tired, old canards, revealed a lack of respect for the citizens of Idaho and made it clear that his agenda is merely to keep his job. We Idahoans deserve better. This Idahoan will be voting for Russ Fulcher for governor.
