WILKEY: Here's the real story

| May 15, 2014 9:00 PM

I have always felt that any person running for office should concentrate on their own strengths, not try to win by smearing their opponent. That said, I am disappointed in Warren Keene’s political announcement citing the differences between himself and Deb Wilkey, both running for County Coroner.

He states that the budget is 50 percent over. How did he verify that figure, keeping in mind that when Deb took office it was already over budget? He states that Deb hired her “inexperienced boyfriend,” who actually IS experienced and has worked on death scenes as an EMS and Paramedic since 1977. He was under the direct supervision of Coroner West beginning in 1984. He, as well as Dr. West, serve as UNPAID volunteer deputies. Both have verifiable credentials.

Finally, you note that Deb has a degree in Anthropology. You forgot to mention that it is a degree in FORENSIC Anthropology. Her credentials also include POST Certified Law Enforcement, Bachelor of Science Degree; and Associates Degree in Nursing.

The coroner’s position is a full time job. How can an ER Physician who works full time also give his full time to a second job? Shame on you for poor campaign tactics.

A final note: Deb Wilkey is 9th in all of Idaho to be a registered/certified Medicolegal Death Investigator. You forgot to mention that as well.
