THOMAS: Kind - and dedicated

Many times during election years we, as voters, are overwhelmed with statistics that are spewed by the various candidates. They would have us believe that everything they say is accurate and their opponent is in never-never land! However, most of us are aware that statistics can be misleading and sometimes just wrong.

In looking at candidates, I have decided to take a different tact. First, who is the candidate and why are they running? Second, what type of person are they? And third, what is their experience for the position for which they are running?

I am very pleased to support Laurie Thomas for City Treasurer. I have known Laurie for many years ... as a mother and a positive supporter of School District 271. She has a kind heart and is a dedicated city employee. She has a strong work ethic, is confident, and very transparent when discussing controversial issues. I find those characteristics about her refreshing.

Laurie has worked as the Deputy City Treasurer for the past 13 years and I am sure that she could bury us with “statistics and rhetoric.” But no, she lets her record speak for itself. I find that approach to campaigning refreshing.

In fact, I find Laurie Thomas a “refreshing” new candidate on the political scene. Please join me in voting for Laurie Thomas as our new City Treasurer. Her experience and integrity are strong qualities that will lead our city in a positive direction for many years ... now that is refreshing!
