POEM: A tribute to our teachers

| May 9, 2014 9:00 PM

Growing up,

It comes way too fast.

Walking across the stage,

All you see is the past.

The friends you’ve made,

The “friends” you’ve lost

The lives you’ve changed,

the paths you’ve crossed.

You continue to walk,

Like you used to during the summer,

Down that old lake dock.

They hand you the paper,

You shake their hands.

You continue to walk,

contemplating your plans.

Your moment passes,

You shake your head.

Where has time gone?

You feel misled.

Your time is done.

It’s finally come.

Can we not just go back?

Can we not always be a Wolf Pack?

Just stand in the bleachers,

Cheer with our teachers?

Lake City did us well,

our time spent was swell.

But now we’re receiving college admission letters in the mail.

Are you ready?

Did we really think it would last?

Because growing up is here,

high school has passed.
