HEALTH: Help the region get healthier
As a Registered Dietitian with the Panhandle Health District, I recently attended the Creating Healthy Communities Summit. The summit brought together people from industries and organizations statewide to find ways to improve the health of Idaho communities by concentrating on improvements in the built environment. Panhandle Health District (PHD) was well represented, and we exchanged thoughts and ideas with people who work in city governments, health care, engineering, city planning, transportation and child care. National speakers inspired everyone to start on a plan to improve community health as well as set a long-term goal.
PHD’s commitment to improving the health of the population with the help of community partners is long-standing. An organized movement has begun to grow in North Idaho to create healthier communities and stable economies. Anyone can participate. If you’re interested in joining the effort to bolster the health of our community, contact Kim Young, Registered Dietitian at PHD, at 415-5141 or [email protected].
