NIC splits with Salt Lake in softball

SALT LAKE CITY - The visiting North Idaho College Cardinals won the first game 3-1, but dropped the second game 2-1 on a walk-off single to the Salt Lake Bruins in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.

No highlights were available from the first game.

In the second game, KyRae Kogianes hit a two-run double to left field with one out in the seventh inning to give the Bruins the win.

Kylene Hatton doubled leading off the sixth for NIC, scoring the team's only run on a double steal with Christina Delaluz, who was thrown out at second on the play.

NIC (21-16, 16-12 SWAC) travels to Wenatchee Valley on Tuesday for a nonconference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

Salt Lake is 21-10, 23-13.
