Koresh Dance Co. returns to North Idaho

| March 28, 2014 9:00 PM

The Koresh Dance Company will return to North Idaho next month.

Tickets are now on sale for the Philadephia-based dance troupe's April 12 performance at 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene.

It is the second time the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center has brought the group to the region to perform.

Shaina Nomee, executive director of the JACC in Post Falls, said the audience's response to the dance company's performance in North Idaho a year ago was "incredible."

"It was moving and powerful, and I admired the athleticism and the stamina of the dancers," said Nomee, who was in the audience with her husband. "He was moved by it also and said it was like nothing he had ever seen, and that he would like to attend again."

Another audience member felt the same way, and made an anonymous donation to the Idaho Community Foundation to bring the dance company back again. Those funds were matched by the Inland Northwest Community Foundation's Florence Wasmer Fund.

"It's a unique opportunity, and we're so grateful to be able to bring the company back," Nomee said.

Koresh will stage its "Come Together" show at the Kroc. The piece features the full, 10-member dance company and juxtaposes Middle Eastern music with classical favorites. Organizers describe it as a "musical journey with composers from Israel and Turkey set alongside Chopin, Beethoven, Ravel and more."

Tickets are $20/adults and $15/students and seniors. They can be purchased by calling the JACC, (208) 457-8950 or online at www.thejacklinartcenter.org.
