Ruth E. Boggs, 95

| March 26, 2014 12:41 PM

Ruth passed away peacefully at age 95 on March 21, 2014, at Hospice House of North Idaho.

Ruth was born in San Bernardino, Calif., July 5, 1918. She was the youngest of Maude and Enise Joseph’s four children. She spent much of her early life in San Bernardino, and the family then settled in Dairyville, Calif., where they established a dairy ranch along the Sacramento River.

On August 30, 1938, Ruth married Arthur C. Boggs in Reno, Nev. They made their home in Chico, Calif.and then moved to Vacaville, Calif., where they had an orchard and ranch.

Ruth and Art enjoyed traveling. Their adventures took them to England, Scotland, Canada, and many of the 50 states.

Ruth loved nature and the outdoors. On many occasions she would pick up pine cones, rocks and pretty leaves. Her great love of nature led to her interest in spinning wool. She would collect wool from the sheep ranchers, then dye, card, spin and then weave it into beautiful works of art.

Ruth was an avid reader of westerns and history. Bright colors, good food, popcorn, listening to other people’s journeys, playing cards, knitting and dominoes were some of her favorite things!

Ruth was a lifelong member of Eastern Star. She was a genuine, selfless and giving person, and above all things, she loved her family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Arthur, and is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughters: Betty (Jack) Bonzey, of Coeur d’Alene, and Sharon (John) Ryan, of Boothbay, Maine; grandchildren: Nicole and John Fiegener, of Marblehead, Mass., Michelle and Chuck Livingston, of Coeur d’Alene, Michael and Kim Henning, of Lincoln, Calif., and Jake Ryan, of Hollywood Hills, Calif.; and great-grandchildren: Chloe and Ella Fiegener, and Ryan and Carson Henning.

Private family services will be held. Please visit Ruth’s online memorial at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com and sign her guest book.
