POST FALLS - Michael McKeown hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Ameen Gondo for the go-ahead score and Post Falls won the first game 6-5 of a nonleague doubleheader on Saturday.

Post Falls beat Sandpoint 12-2 in the second game.

Trojans starting pitcher Joey Pfennigs threw five innings, allowed four runs, five hits, and struck out eight in the first game.

Ryan Hunt had an RBI double that gave the Trojans (4-1) a 4-2 lead.

"Joey had 75 percent strikes and he pitched really well," Trojans coach Dustin Frank said. "Ryan Hunt and Michael McKeown each had clutch hits."

In the second game, the Trojans came out on fire and had 20 hits while routing the Bulldogs, in a game shortened due to the 10-run rule.

Nick Hall, Post Falls' starting pitcher, picked up the win and had four hits. Nate Gomer and Gondo each had three hits.

"We came out really flat in the first game," Frank said. "We didn't play to our potential. Sandpoint put us on our heels. In between games, we got more aggressive and more confident. We had a good approach at the plate."
