STATUE: Worthy tribute to region

Thank you, Mr. Dean Haagenson, for recognizing the backbone of our community by commissioning the $50,000 “American Worker” statue, by Terry Lee.
This area was built by hard workers: Loggers, miners, farmers, mill workers, people who worked on the lakes, small business owners, etc. My family had loggers, farmers and foresters who lived here and worked hard here. For years I have been disappointed that there is no recognition of any of this part of our history. I have not found any in Coeur d’Alene. It sure wasn’t built on tourism and retirement.
So thank you, Dean, for being so thoughtful.
