SPOKANE - Post Falls starting pitcher Ryan Hunt threw six innings, gave up one run on seven hits, striking out five and he only walked one, leading the Trojans past the Central Valley Bears 6-1 in a nonleague game on Thursday afternoon.

"He did a pretty good job," Post Falls coach Dustin Frank said. "He threw 72 percent strikes. Central Valley competed well at the plate, they put the bat on the ball. I was real proud of how Ryan was able to compete the entire game."

The Trojans scored their first run in the top of the first inning, on a single by Hunt that scored Michael McKeown.

In the fourth inning, Wyatt Setian doubled with a full count, then Trevor Hammel doubled off the wall to score Setian for a 2-0 lead. Also in the inning, Nate Gomer hit a two-strike single to score Hammel.

"Wyatt and Trevor both had breakout games," Frank said. "We've been working on two-strike hitting and it paid off."

Post Falls (2-0) hosts Sandpoint on Saturday.
