Army basketball

Failor, a freshman from Post Falls High, was named to the Patriot Conference All-Rookie Team in a vote by the league's head coaches. Failor, who became the 15th Army player to land on the team, averaged 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds a game, and ranks among the team leaders in field goal percentage at 47.5 percent for the Black Knights (25-7), who open NCAA tournament play on Sunday against Maryland at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN2.

Mason Shaw

Stanford swimming

Shaw, a senior from Lake City High, qualified for the NCAA Division I men's championship meet March 27-29 in Austin, Texas. He will compete in the 100-meter breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, as well as the breast legs on the 200 and 400 medley relay teams. He is a second year captain and majoring in mechanical engineering.

Garrett DeMers

Montana State-Northern wrestling

DeMers, a redshirt freshman from Coeur d'Alene High, finished fifth at 197 pounds in the NAIA wrestling championships, beating Samuel Johnson of UCDS by pin in 2 minutes, 4 seconds to finish the season 31-13.

Tyler Maryon

College of Idaho swimming

Maryon, a sophomore from Lake City High, was the lone Coyote swimmer to advance to the finals of the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships in Oklahoma City, finishing third in the 200 meter butterfly with a school-record finish in 1 minute and 55.67 seconds. Maryon also helped the school's 400 freestyle relay team finish seventh in the "B" final in 3:14.33.
