Joseph Bernard Dyson, 67

Joseph Bernard Dyson, 67, of Spirit Lake, ID passed away March 13, 2014, at Ivy Court nursing home in Coeur d’Alene, ID.

Joseph was born October 7, 1946, in Baltimore, Md. He attended Townsend High School and graduated in 1967. Joseph then joined the United States Marines and proudly served during the Vietnam war. After 10 years in the Marines, he was discharged, and later served in the National Guard for 20 years.

Joseph met Brigitte Zeier, and they were married on September 22, 1978, in Baltimore. Together they lived in California for 14 years, before moving to North Idaho in 1990 - first living in Coeur d’Alene, and eventually settling in Spirit Lake.

Joseph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. He was a life member of the Marine Core League in Coeur d’Alene, the American Legion, and a former member of the Lions Club in Spirit Lake.

Joseph loved spending time with his wife, and they were rarely seen apart, as if they were attached by the hip.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Brigitte, at the family home in Spirit Lake; his mother, Anna Dyson, of Maryland; six children: Dewayne Stevey, of Iowa; Tina Smith, of North Carolina; Janette Villgomec, of Idaho; Lony Stevey, of Oklahoma; Christine Sos, of Hawaii; and Joseph Dyson; five granddaughters, one grandson, three great grandsons, and one great granddaughter.

A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday March 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32919 N. Hwy 41, Spirit Lake. There will be a Celebration of Life held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 22, at the Spirit Lake Senior Center, 32564 N. 4th Ave., in Spirit Lake. The family suggests that memorials be made to Toys For Tots via their website www.toysfortots.org.
