Final day to file for election

| March 14, 2014 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Today is the final day to file for the May 20 primary election and to affiliate with the Republican Party to vote on the closed Republican ballot.

In 2010, the Idaho State Republican Party voted to limit its primary election to Republican-affiliated voters only. Under the new election laws, anyone affiliated with another party has until today to change their affiliation if they want to vote on the Republican ballot.

Unaffiliated voters, however, can affiliate with the Republican Party as late as election day.

All candidates for all parties who want to run for partisan elected offices must file today to get on the ballot for the November general election.

Write-in candidates have until April 4 to file their intent to run for county political offices.

Candidates wanting to run for the non-partisan North Idaho College Board of Trustees races during the general election must declare their candidacy by Sept. 2.
