Coeur d'Alene resident reports stolen weapons

COEUR d'ALENE - A resident reported the theft of guns and a World War II-era samurai sword, valued at $5,000, from a gun safe in their Coeur d'Alene residence this weekend.

According to a Coeur d'Alene Police Department incident report, officers responded Saturday to the home located on Indiana Avenue.

When they arrived on scene, the homeowner told the officers that he discovered the gun safe he keeps in his basement had been opened without his permission.

Several guns, including a Smith and Wesson revolver and a Ruger semi-automatic pistol were taken. The resident estimated that the total value of the items stolen was $6,620.
