POST FALLS - A Post Falls payday loan business was robbed Monday morning, police said.

A white male, described as being in his 40s or 50s, entered the Check n' Go at 740 N. Cecil Road, No. 114, in the plaza across the street from the Walmart on Mullan Avenue at 10:45 a.m. and demanded cash, said Post Falls Police Capt. Pat Knight.

"He told the employee, 'I've got a gun; you've got 10 seconds to give me all the money,'" said Knight, adding that a gun was never displayed.

Knight said the male employee, who was the only other person at the business during the alleged heist, opened the cash register and set out the money tray.

Police did not disclose the amount of cash that was stolen.

Knight said the suspect cut two phone lines with a knife before fleeing north toward Mullan Avenue on foot. It's unclear whether the suspect ran to a vehicle.

The employee told police that the suspect has tan hair and facial stubble. The male is described as 5-feet-10 to 6 feet and 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie and blue jeans.

Knight said investigators are working with businesses to secure video surveillance in hopes of obtaining more information.
