I stopped by a couple of businesses and organizations after picking up my order of baby chicks, as I do every year. Everyone was experiencing what I perceived as joy, especially the children. Then a person of authority came out of the office, and with a stern voice said, “What are you doing? We have a ‘no-animal policy’ here.”
How Idaho has changed since I grew up. Much can be said about the good old days: Walking to school, selling pop bottles for extra money, penny candy, seven sawmills, the Wilma Theater, finding arrowheads and garnets on the city beach, and watching the girls, of course. I don’t think that has changed.
