| March 8, 2014 8:00 PM

TWIN FALLS - Allison Paldeni hit a two-run double to give North Idaho College a 4-0 lead in the second game, helping the Cardinals earn a 7-6 win in the second game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader against the ninth-ranked Southern Idaho Golden Eagles on Friday afternoon.

CSI won the first game 20-5 in five innings.

Madison Anthony hit her first home run of the season to give NIC (13-11, 9-8 SWAC) a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Sierra Whitmer singled to left field to drive in a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 7-6 for CSI (21-9, 16-6), but NIC starting pitcher Miranda Powless stopped the bleeding.

"It was great to see the team bounce back after a tough loss to a quality team," NIC coach Don Don Williams said.

NIC trailed 13-1 after the third inning in the first game, which was shortended to 4 1/2 innings due to the seven-run mercy rule. Samantha Luna went 1 for 3 with two RBI for the Cardinals.

The teams conclude the weekend series today with a doubleheader starting at noon.
