• Plunging For Pesos Saturday

COEUR d'ALENE - A group of volunteers headed to Mexico to build homes for the poor will take a dip in the icy waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene on Saturday to help fund their mission trip.

Volunteer Stacey Curson said the "Plunging For Pesos" fundraiser and a Mexican fiesta that evening will help defray travel expenses for the 53 volunteers traveling to Mexico March 28 through April 6 to build two houses in El Florido, an impoverished city near Tecate.

Plunging for Pesos participants have been collecting pledges and will meet at City Beach at 10 a.m. Saturday to jump into the lake.

A Mexican fiesta fundraiser runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Anthem Church. Homemade Mexican food, including tamales and shredded pork, will be served. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $4.50 for children.

Information: Stacey Curson, (208) 640-6954.
