Dorothy Elizabeth Renner, 89

| March 6, 2014 10:07 AM

Dorothy Elizabeth Renner passed away peacefully, with her granddaughter by her side, at Good Samaritan in Silverton, ID. She was 89 years old.

Dorothy was born in Kremmling, Colo., to Marvin and Hattie Piper on September 18, 1924. In 1943 she graduated from Harrison High School in Idaho. Dorothy was a star basketball player; the first freshman to make the team. In fact, her team, the Spartans, won the state championship in 1943.

Dorothy married Donald Renner in 1943, and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past January.

She worked at Washington State University for 22 years until she retired. She and Don moved from Palouse, Wash., to Calder, ID, to Black Lake, ID, where Don still lives.

Dorothy was a great swimmer and an excellent cook - especially huckleberry pancakes. She loved to fish and camp, especially with her grandchildren. They have many happy memories.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Lorne Joe; and her parents, Marvin and Hattie.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Don; daughters: Fran (Harold) Johnson, of Redmond, Ore., and Manota Darlene Magellon, of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

There are no services planned at this time. There will be a memorial service held at a later date this spring. Please visit Dorothy’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
