WARS: Bible has plenty to say

| June 27, 2014 9:00 PM

In one of the more beautiful verses in the Bible, Christ says, “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

The Bible was carried to our shores with the first pilgrims and by those who fought for our independence. Pioneer settlers loaded all of their meager possessions on horse drawn prairie schooners, and with Pa’s hands on the reins and Ma’s on the Bible they put their trust in God and headed west. When these stalwart families found land suitable for farming they began the task of clearing and working the soil.

As a group they would rise early to plow their fields and build their modest homes. About mid-afternoon mothers would leave the fields and begin preparing the main meal for the family. When seated around the slab-wood table they would bow their heads and give thanks for what was before them. Many of these families carried only one book west and after dinner mother would gather the children around her, and with her Bible in hand, teach them how to read. Other neighbors settled nearby, and soon little one-room churches appeared across the land. God blessed them, and protected them through wars and other perilous times.

If you study the Bible and review fulfilled prophesies and learn about those that are yet to come, you will come to a very sobering conclusion that this is not the time to lay your Bible aside.

The wars being fought in the middle-east are on the soil that is prophesied for a later final conflict (Armageddon) on the plain between Iraq and Persia near Mt. Megiddo.

Christ’s offer still stands and I urge you to accept it.
