CDA: Park first, then hit beach
I would approve of the handicapped-accessible beach area, but if they remove the parking area how do you suggest they have access to the beach? Are they supposed to drop the person off, then go to the parking lot on the other side of the city park? Not very efficient or safe for a mother taking a child to the beach.
From what I can see in the illustration, the only change is replacing grass for the parking area other than what looks like a drop off driveway. Let’s get real here and also make it convenient for the handicapped, their caretakers and family. It also would be more cost effective to keep the parking area instead of tearing up the concrete and replacing it with grass. We’ll lose the parking fees unless there will be a charge for sitting on the grass. Another suggestion would be to only have handicapped parking available there with a discount on parking fees.
