James Thomas Powell, 86

James Thomas Powell, 86, passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his home in Cataldo, Idaho.

Jim was born September 13, 1927, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Malcolm and Eveden (Fraser) Powell.

After graduating in 1946, Jim served in the Army, later moving to Utah in 1958. Jim worked as a contract engineer throughout the United States and Canada. Because of his love for hunting, fishing and the outdoors, Jim opened and operated a sporting goods store in Elk City, Idaho, during the 1970's.

In his later years, Jim moved north to this area, where he continued to enjoy the outdoors, working on his timbered property. Jim was a valued member of the J.O.Y. class at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Joan Merrill; and his stepsons: Chad, Glen and Wyatt Oakes.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21, at Yates Funeral Homes, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Yates funeral homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
