TEACHERS: Here to enrich students

| June 15, 2014 9:00 PM

My wife, Sandy and I are retired teachers from the Chicago suburbs and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2005. Mike Patrick’s thoughts (editorial June 11) about the three young graduates from Coeur d’Alene High School were accurate. A gesture from the heart not only can make a teacher’s day or year, but it will make their career.

Mrs. Johnson will never forget the moment when the three boys came to her door to thank her. Teachers don’t do their job to receive kudos; they do their jobs to enrich and nurture their students. It is just very moving that three young men took time from their busy schedules to honor this beloved teacher.

I think adults need to do more to promote what young students are doing for their community. Positive motivation is good for all.
