TAXES: Here's a waste on wheels

| July 30, 2014 9:00 PM

I was once a Bonner County resident and now am a Kootenai County resident. I would like to think that every person that lives in their own county would like to know that their tax money is being used for the benefit of the county they live in and not another.

On a daily basis I have witnessed a Bonner County employee use a Bonner County issued credit card and a Bonner County issued vehicle; this person lives in Kootenai County. Therefore this Bonner County employee is using tax money from Bonner County to benefit herself using a Bonner County vehicle and Bonner County credit card for her needs.

The bottom line is this employee should not be using a Bonner County credit card and vehicle using the Bonner County taxpayer’s money when she does not reside in Bonner County. This employee should be driving her own vehicle to work like the rest of us taxpayers do on our own dollar and not the county’s dollar.

I have witnessed this employee on many occasions, and I believe that the citizens of Bonner County should be put on notice, and know where their tax dollars are going, and to what county. I think we would all agree that each county should be responsible for each county and their taxes. I also know that those of us that travel for work would love to have a credit card to pay for our gas and drive a vehicle for the county that we will be working in and have whichever county we work in foot the bill.
