LIBERALISM: Spreads like a cancer

| July 23, 2014 9:00 PM

Liberalism (progressive politics) reminds me of two particular diseases of the human body.

Cancer: It starts out as a single mutated cell that begins dividing and reproducing itself rapidly. Soon it begins destroying the body it infects. Liberalism started out small. It began with a few government programs that were good at the time, but expanded until it is way out of control.

The CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) was a public works program that put three million men back to work following the Great Depression. This put America on a fast track to recovery. Eventually, though, good ideas expand into bureaucracies (if a little is good, then more must be better, right?).

Unemployment Insurance, another good idea, became more than insurance when the government began granting extended benefits and using taxpayer money to pay for it. Welfare is necessary for the truly destitute, but has become a permanent way of life for millions at the expense of the hardworking, middle class taxpayer. Corporate bailouts worked well for Chrysler and GM, but how about Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Solyndra? And that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Parasitic Infection: Parasite eggs are ingested in foods. These eggs hatch inside the body and the parasites begin to consume the nutrition the body needs to remain healthy. Not only that, but they dump their excrement into the blood, which further sickens the host.

Doesn’t this sound like a lot of our politicians, bureaucrats and judges? They usurp the Constitutional powers of the people, demand more and more of our money, and institute innumerable regulations that cripple our economy.

It’s time to take a stand against the oppression that Liberalism has caused our great country. America stands on the brink of becoming a third world nation. Our own president has stated publicly that he wants to “lessen America’s footprint in the world.” He has certainly done that. How can we be proud to be Americans with that kind of leadership?

How apathetic can we be when only about a fourth of registered voters turned out to vote in the primary elections? Unless you voted you are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

As for flying the flag upside down, that sounds like a defeatist attitude to me. Yes, our nation is in distress, but let’s display our flags proudly and demand reform in our pathetic government. Patriotism is sadly lacking in our formerly great country. Let’s take America back.

How do we do that? We demand that Congress stops letting the POTUS and SCOTUS usurp their powers. We elect conservative candidates with enough backbone to take their power back. We take over the Senate as well as the House of Representatives, and in 2016 we elect a conservative president. The battle is just beginning. Get involved.
