$810 raised for burned kids

A pair of third-grade boys at Sorensen Magnet School raised $810 Friday when they held a 'cardboard arcade' benefit for two local children who recently suffered serious burns in a backyard fire pit accident.

The boys, Henry Depew and Owen Harro, held the benefit for Joshua Emerson, 8, one of their classmates, and 4-year-old Brooklynne White, who are recovering at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

"The boys learned a lot that day, that it's easy and fun to help out others and make a big difference in the life of someone in need," wrote Henry's mother, Susan Morgan-Depew, in a letter to The Press.

Family, friends and some strangers stopped by the backyard benefit to play games which the boys designed and built completely out of cardboard boxes and other junk they found around their houses.
