Vandals boot top receiver Epps off team
MOSCOW - Idaho football coach Paul Petrino announced Sunday senior wide receiver/kick returner Dezmon Epps, the Vandals' leading receiver last year as a junior, has been dismissed from the team for violating team rules.
"We have the highest standards and expectations for our players as student-athletes and citizens," Petrino said. "We clearly outline the consequences when these expectations are not met."
Epps, a junior college transfer who was arrested on a DUI charge in April, caught 79 passes for 980 yards and four touchdowns last season for Idaho (1-11). He had 43 more catches than the second-place pass catcher.
The top returning receiver now is redshirt sophomore Deon Watson from Coeur d'Alene High, who caught 24 passes for 279 yards and one TD last year.
