GUNS: Campuses won't be safer

| July 20, 2014 9:00 PM

Open Carry of loaded semi-automatic rifles and pistols as of July 1 is allowed on the campuses of Idaho universities.

If your son or daughter will be attending the University of Idaho, North Idaho College, Lewis and Clark State, Idaho State, or Boise State this fall, are you comfortable with students carrying loaded weapons on the campus?

Those who do carry these guns around must pass a gun safety class. Will such a class prevent gunfire when there is anger or drunkenness? Will your child be innocently caught in crossfire? With 270 people shot in the U.S. daily, and 87 of them shot to death, do you feel the odds are on your side? If you are not overly concerned, what is the price to pay if you are wrong?

With over 30,000 gun deaths in the U.S. every year, do you really think more guns are the answer?
