THANKS: Volunteers make it happen!

A new addition to the Post Falls Festival this year were the Big Back-in lawn mower races, brought to us by Marc Kroetch, Rob Street and team members from Spirit Lake. Thirty custom lawnmowers from all over North Idaho participated in the races and more than 500 spectators enjoyed the action packed event in downtown Post Falls.

Special thanks to the volunteers and who dedicated many hours in the 95+ degree weather to make this event a huge success.

THANKS: NHL Legends come through

Children's Village is thrilled to be the recipient of a very generous donation from Discovery Land Company Foundation (DLCF), Gozzer Ranch and NHL Legends.

DLCF has been a longstanding advocate and friend of Children's Village, supporting us since 2008 with substantial donations towards our mission of helping abused and neglected foster and privately placed children throughout the Northwest. This $300,000 donation will allow us to expand our program and open a second home on our 15-acre campus, doubling our capacity and allowing us to serve an additional 75 children per year.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and most importantly the children who will benefit from this donation for years to come, we wish to thank Christy Nichols, Director of Discovery Land Company Foundation as well as DLCF's CEO Michael Meldman and Board Member Hunter Meldman along with all of the generous donors who helped raise funds so we can open our doors even wider.

THANKS: Parks Day was wonderful for all

What a wonderful day for all, this past Saturday, for the seventh annual Parks Day, featuring our new McEuen Park and Tubbs Hill.

It was an honor for me to be a part of the fun action on the tennis/pickleball courts. The Coeur d'Alene Tennis Association and local pickleball group, headed up by Leetha Rodrigues, did an outstanding job of decorating the courts, blasting fun music in-between bands, and offering up fun drills, games and free tips. I'd like to thank Safeway on Fourth Street for donating cases of ice cold bottled water for everyone.

A special thanks to Mayor Steve Widmeyr for being onboard early on, to organized fun on the courts. Also, to Bill Greenwood and Katie Kosanke, for their tremendous support in helping us put this on for Patks Day.

Wonderful also to see that day, the CdA Sk8 Park group, raising awareness and funds for a new world-class skateboard park. And, local band The Angela Marie Project, kicking off the live entertainment in the morning.

Cheers to ALL those who made this event possible for our amazing community!
