COEUR d’ALENE — The body of an adult male was discovered on the shoreline of Lake Coeur d’Alene near the boat dock at North Idaho College just before 6 a.m. Saturday.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reported that a college employee found the body as she was on her way to clean the restrooms on the beach. Officers from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department as well as deputies from the KCSO responded to the scene. KCSO is handling the investigation because of the location of the body.

Sheriff’s detectives and the Kootenai County Coroner recovered the body and processed the evidence Saturday morning, closing Rosenberry Drive until 11 a.m.

It was unknown how long the body had been in the water. The identity of the male and cause of death were unknown.

“There is no further information,” said KCSO Sgt. Ward Crawford in a voicemail to The Press on Saturday afternoon. He said nothing else had been discovered or released and probably wouldn’t be until Monday.
