ASA 14U regional Xtreme win opener at regional tourney at Ramsey

The North Idaho Xtreme of Coeur d'Alene won its first game on Friday to open the ASA 14-and-under "A" Regional girls fastpitch softball tournament at Ramsey Park in Coeur d'Alene.

The Xtreme return to action today against the Great Falls Osprey at 10 a.m.

The Coeur d'Alene Crush dropped its opener, 13-4, to the Forest Grove (Ore.) Breeze. They return to action today at 8 a.m. against the Venom from Centralia, Wash.

The 15-team tournament concludes on Sunday, with the championship game scheduled at 2:15 p.m.

Winners Bracket

Forest Grove (Ore.) Breeze 13, Coeur d'Alene Crush '99 4: Vanessa Gonzalez had two hits and three RBIs for the Breeze. Bailey Cavanaugh went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Crush.

Spokane Sliders 5, Raptors 2000 3: Olivia Zufelt homered for the Sliders. Lydia Dillon went 2 for 3 for the Raptors of Vancouver, Wash.

Great Falls Selects 16, Spokane Crash 2000 7: Maddie Payne went 4 for 4 with five RBIs and Tannya Krenick went 3 for 4 with three doubles and eight RBIs for the Selects.

North Idaho Xtreme 9, West Plains Bandits 7: Ashley Kaufman and Hailey Kane each had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Xtreme. Shelby Classen struck out 10 for the Bandits from Medical Lake.

Lady Osprey 10, Spokane Stealth 2000 0: Taylor Brinkman threw a two-hitter, striking out four four the Osprey of Missoula.

Spokane Crash '99 9, Washington Illusion 5: Meredith Clark went 4 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Crash. Alicia Vint went 2 for 4 for the Illusion of Kelso, Wash.

Washington Spirit 6, Oregon Thunder 4: Isabelle Stohel went 2 for 3 with a run scored for the Spirit from Richland, Wash. Julia Ferguson struck out seven for the Thunder from Hillsboro.

Second round

Forest Grove (Ore.) Breeze 8, Venom 3: Sierra Gunderson went 2 for 4 with a triple and Chandler Young went 3 for 4 for the Breeze. Abbi Music went 3 for 4 for the Venom from Centralia, Wash.
