Statewide gas prices on the rise

| July 16, 2014 9:00 PM

Prices at the pump have continued to tick downward nationwide since the July 4 holiday, but not in Idaho, where the average price has risen 15 cents in the past 30 days.

AAA reports Idaho's average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $3.77 per gallon, up three cents in the past week and 16 cents more than the national average mark of $3.61.

Although the situation in Iraq remains unresolved, AAA released a press release Tuesday stating that disruptions to the nation's gasoline supply are increasingly viewed as unlikely.

Idaho's current average price is two cents more than the $3.75 price a year ago.

AAA said the national average may continue to slide or remain flat - barring any geopolitical concerns, major hurricane or refinery disruptions. AAA noted earlier this summer that gasoline prices typically decrease by July 4.

Here's a look at average prices today across Idaho: Boise, $3.83; Coeur d'Alene, $3.65; Idaho Falls, $3.66; Lewiston, $3.71; Nampa, $3.84; Pocatello $3.67; Twin Falls, $3.74. Among those communities, there is as much as a 19-cent differential between the lowest and highest prices.
