Xtreme second at state 16U tourney

The Idaho Sliders of Meridian defeated the Coeur d'Alene-based North Idaho Xtreme '97 8-0 in the championship game of the Idaho state 16-and-under ASA softball tournament Sunday at Ramsey Park in Coeur d'Alene.

Riley Jensen went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs for the Sliders, and Kayler Detmer pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts.

Alex Douglas went 2 for 2 for the Xtreme.

Earlier, North Idaho Xtreme eliminated the Boise Blast 5-1. Douglas pitched a two-hitter and Abby Howard went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. The Blast finished third.

Before that, the Blast eliminated the Idaho Crush of Boise 3-1. Vanessa Loke gave up four hits and struck out three in the win, and Sam Hamilton was 3 for 3 and drove in two runs. The Idaho Crush finished fourth.
