Hayden 10-11s, Coeur d'Alene 9-10s capture district titles

Breyson Coppess homered and drove in two runs, and Hayden went on to beat Lewiston 9-6 in the district championship game Sunday.

Logan Cessna closed out the game by facing 10 batters and allowing no runs on one hit. Dylan Stahlecker doubled and drove in two runs, and Darren Bailey doubled and drove in a run.

Hayden, which went 7-0 at districts, advances to the state best-of-3 playoffs July 18-20 at Eagle vs. the District 2 champion.

Cruz Hepburn homered for Lewiston, and Cole McKenzie went 2 for 3.

* AGE 9-10

Coeur d'Alene beat Sandpoint twice on Sunday, winning 12-2 and 11-10 to capture the district championship.

In the first game, Marcus Manzardo hit a two-run triple for Coeur d'Alene.

In the deciding title game, Manzardo and Andrew Karns each hit RBI doubles, and Karns struck out five.

Avery Bocksch hit a two-run triple for Sandpoint, which needed just one win to win the district title.

Coeur d'Alene advances to the state best-of-3 playoffs July 18-20 at Eagle vs. the District 2 champion.

Lewiston 8, Coeur d'Alene 3: Trayton Skinner hit a pair of home runs for Lewiston in the district championship game.

Bennett Cunningham homered and singled for Coeur d'Alene, and Alex Karns went 2 for 3.
