At first this location is a head-scratcher as several eateries have had their problems there and not lasted long. These new folks, however, evidently have their ducks - well, eggs, in a row.

Jeffrey and Kathy Grossman have had Jeffrey's Restaurant in Lewiston for 29 years. And now they're adding their second place at 1801 E. Sherman Ave. in Coeur d'Alene. The family-style eatery opened this week with breakfast and lunch and offering to-go options, on-site catering and event hosting.

Both meals include daily specials and signature items such as their biscuits and (bacon) gravy, a bite-size steak dish, starters, side orders and desserts. Of course, they have all the standard breakfasts, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, salads and home-made soups. Beverages don't include alcohol.

The place seats 36 inside and 16 outside with hours of 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and has seven employees. Phone 665-9482.

Pinkerton building at Riverstone

The move-in date is nearly a year away for the employees of Pinkerton Retirement Specialists.

Their 21,000-square-foot, one-story building is under construction on the northern edge of Riverstone Pond adjacent to Riverstone Park. The brick, peaked-roof structure will replace Pinkerton's 5,000-square-foot building nearby on Merritt Creek Loop.

Pinkerton is a registered investment advisory firm serving clients in 30 states and managing $500 million from its national headquarters here in Coeur d'Alene. Locally the company has six certified financial planners giving advice to people planning their retirement with a minimum of $500,000 in investable assets.

The company moved here in 1997 with five employees, then had 11 when it moved to Riverstone in 2004 and now has 25. Phone 667-8998. Checkwww.pinkertonretirement.com.

Northwest Music Center growth prompts move

Growth also is the primary reason for Northwest Music Center's move to a space about double its current location at 4055 Government Way (across from the fairgrounds).

The move into the new space at 3700 Government Way (the former Homestyles Lighting location next to Great Floors) will be about Aug. 1. The new location doubles the size of the retail store, triples the instrument repair shop and adds studio space for music lessons and portrait photography.

Northwest Music Center began in 1989 as Northwest Academy of Music as a music school for young children. The full-line music store and new name began in 2000, and Northwest Photographic Arts was added in 2011.

The store has all types of instruments, keyboards, amplifiers and accessories for sale or rent. Services include booking musicians for events and offering lessons to about 800 students through 12 instructors per year.

Key people are owners Chad and Tina Stevens, manager Sean Schlender and repair technician Matt Jensen. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fridays and 10 to 5 Saturdays. Phone 667-6200. Check www.nwacademy.com.
