| July 10, 2014 9:27 AM

Reese Hubbard, 97, passed away July 5, 2014, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Rancher, farmer, logger, miner and long time resident of Rose Lake, and later, Coeur d’Alene.

Reese was the son of pioneer homestead parents and grandparents who came to Mica Bay, Idaho, in the late 1800’s. He was born in 1917 to Roy and Edith Hubbard at Mica Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene.

In 1932, Reese and his father moved to a farm in Rose Lake, Idaho. Reese went to school and graduated from Rose Lake High School where he played football and gained a love for sports.

In 1938, Reese married Pauline Wilcox and they had two daughters. After his father died in 1943, Reese slowly developed the farm into a cattle ranch. In 1993, his wife, Pauline, passed away.

Reese was given a second chance for life and happiness when he married Mary Frances Bowen in 1995. Reese and Mary Frances settled in Coeur d’Alene. He sold the ranch to his daughter and son-in law, Donna and Carl Cochrane, while he settled into an enjoyable routine of fishing with his stepson, Bob Bowen, and pursuing his interest in sports.

Reese was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, and on the Cenex Board of Directors. He loved good food, fishing, movies, dancing, sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Even at the age of 97, Reese was sharp of mind and thought. We will miss him.

Preceding Reese in death was his first wife, Pauline; sister, Mary Marquardt; and nephews: Wayne and Chuck Marquardt. Reese is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Bowen, at the family home in Coeur d'Alene; two daughters: Dolores Johnston and Donna Cochrane, both of Rose Lake, Idaho; sister, Susan Rudd, of North Carolina; three step-children, Linda Lynn of Royal City, Wash., Bill Bowen, of Arizona, and Bob Bowen, of Post Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Come join Reese’s family and friends as we say goodbye for now, at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. Please visit Reese’s online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com
