• Sheriff's 911 center busy on Fourth of July

COEUR d'ALENE - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office's 911 center dispatched 551 calls for service, received 216 calls to 911, and received 663 non-emergency calls on the Fourth of July, according to a KCSO press release issued Wednesday.

An average summer day generates 350 calls for service, 160 calls to 911 and 400 non-emergency calls.

"Even though one day produced 60 percent more work for the dispatch center, they handled the extra load flawlessly and ensured the safety of the first responders and citizens alike," the press release states.
