Calling all wakeboarders and water skiers

HAUSER LAKE - A waterski and wakeboard amateur and professional competition is scheduled for this weekend.

The Hauser Wakeboard and Slalom Competition is for all ages and ability levels. The event is being conducted at Dinki D's Hauser Lake Resort at 18226 W. Main St.

Organizers said watersports participants from novice to professional are coming from throughout Idaho and Washington to compete. Spectators will be welcomed, and there is no charge to watch.

Registration is open from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday. Optional practice sessions for registered even participants start at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 10 a.m. There is an 8:30 riders meeting, and opening ceremonies are at 9 a.m.

The event is underway at 9:15 a.m., with slalom first followed by wakeboarding.

Two rounds are planned for Saturday, time permitting.

At 6 p.m., there is a potluck barbecue.

On Sunday, registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 10 a.m. Another riders meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., and opening ceremonies kick off at 9 a.m.

Slalom is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, followed by wakeboarding.

There will be awards for first, second and third place.

The INT League, known as the "Little League of Watersports," started in 1993 and hosts wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding and wakeskating competitions.

Later this summer, the INT League will have additional competitions at Sun Basin Ski Ranch in Moses Lake, and Long Lake north of Spokane. The season culminates in California with the Western Region Invitational.
