Parks Day set for Saturday

COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene's seventh annual Parks Day celebration will be held at McEuen Park and adjacent Tubbs Hill this year.

The all-day event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and includes free food, free activities and entertainment.

The event kicks off with a free pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. cooked by the Panhandle Kiwanis.

At 9:15 a.m., there will be a Dog Park dedication ceremony by the Kootenai County Dog Park Association. There will be many fun dog-related activities and information booths, including free photos with your dog from 29k Productions.

The Native Plant Society will lead hikes on Tubbs Hill starting at 10 a.m.

Kids Day in the Park activities will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The North Idaho Association for Education of Young Children (NIAEYC) and the Coeur d'Alene Childcare Commission hosts this part of the event, which features many booths with free activites for kids.

Mudgy the Moose and Smokey Bear will also be there. A free bounce house will be available from Jump N 2 Fun during Kids Day events. Coeur d'Alene Kiwanis will provide a free hot dog lunch at noon.

All day entertainment includes the Sorensen Jugglers, The Angela Marie Project, Carli Osika, KOSH, Jazz Northwest, Coeurly Q's Square Dancing, the Youth Marimba Band and the Rythum Dawgs.

There will also be a hamburger dinner at 5 p.m. cooked by the Lions Club International. There will be many on-going activities during the day including basketball, tennis and pickleball, educational booths and much more.

Stop by the parks booth for a chance to win prizes including a Cd'A Parasail ride, a Brooks Seaplane ride, Texas Roadhouse giftcards and more.

Parks Day is presented courtesy of the Coeur d'Alene Parks Department and the Panhandle Parks Foundation. Sponsors include Avista, Cd'A Downtown Association, Contractor's Northwest, Waste Management, Greenstone Homes, Bernadro-Wills Architects, Kootenai Electric Co-op, J.U.B. Engineers, Miller-Stauffer Architects, and the Hallock family.
