Ness, a freshman from Lake City High, was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the 2014 spring quarter.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or better and meet the requirement of playing in at least half of the team's competition.
Maddie Dodge
Eastern Washington golf
Dodge, a sophomore who played at Post Falls High and was home-schooled, was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the 2014 spring quarter. Dodge was also selected a women's collegiate All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and must have appeared in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds. "(Eastern Washington teammate) Taylor (Crandall, who was also selected for the award) and Maddie are the definition of student-athlete," Eastern Washington golf coach Brenda Howe said. "Not only do they excel on the golf course, but they also go above and beyond in the classroom. As a coach, it's an honor to work with players that maintain an amazing balance and competitiveness, a high level of academic success, and a high moral character."
Shea Vucinich
Huntsville Stars
Vucinich, a third baseman from Coeur d'Alene High and Washington State, hit a two-run double in the Stars' 8-5 loss to Jackson on Sunday in Huntsville, Ala. Huntsville (54-34) is a Double-A team in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
Levi Pereira
Medford Rogues
Pereira, a first baseman from Coeur d'Alene High who redshirted last year at Gonzaga, is batting .237 (14 for 59) for the Rogues (30-24), with four doubles and 11 runs scored. Medford is a collegiate wood bat team that plays in the West Coast League.
